Eager to do something enthralling and exciting this weekend? Why not indulge in some sensational signature cocktails at fable cocktail bar? Whether it’s a spontaneous night-time rendezvous with your girls, a sensual evening spent with your partner, or an unforgettable night filled with fun and fabulous shenanigans with friends – fable will definitely not disappoint!

Let loose & revel in an unforgettable night at fable…

From a vast selection of salacious and beyond unique cocktails you’ve never seen or tasted before (and never will again), accompanied by world class DJs & lively music (from Thursdays to Saturdays), paired with an infectious & invigorating energy and vibe, great atmosphere, sweet and swift service, and wildly talented and extremely entertaining mixologists, the cool and captivating fable cocktail bar will not only entice your taste buds (in more ways than one), but steal your wild cocktail-loving heart, seduce your curious and wandering mind, and have you loving every single second of experiencing and exploring absolutely everything this magical and mystical Cape Town cocktail gem has to offer.

~

Its all about the story & the fable of course…

If you thought this innovative forwarding-thinking Cape Town Cocktail Bar couldn’t possibly get any more enticing – think again!

fable cocktail bar cape town
fable cocktail bar

Not only does fable strive to serve and create the unimaginable when it comes to their cocktails, but aims to tell interesting and fascinating local stories through their series of imaginative signature cocktails where every single drink on their menu is based on a different fable.

Each signature fabled cocktail is a distinctive and exclusive creation that is the true embodiment and celebration of their collection of local fables. Developed alongside the fables, each fabled cocktail is a one-of-a-kind creation that went through countless iterations before being perfected. Like the fable it is based on, each drink unfolds in four parts over four seasons, evolving alongside Mother Nature’s four seasonal changes. This means you can always expect something new and different as the seasons change.

Taking it a step further, with every new iteration and seasonal change comes thrilling new concepts, flavours, and a creative daring complexity, adding even more depth to the original fable cocktail you once knew – forever keeping you guessing, hinting at what’s to come, and always, ALWAYS, leaving you wanting more!

“the ultimate expression of our vision – our cocktails tell stories” – fable.

**fable embodies something so unique and alluring – something you won’t find anywhere else in Cape Town or the world for that matter. This not only sets them apart, but puts them in a league of their own, undoubtedly making fable a must-visit, not-to-be-missed Cocktail Bar that should be on everyone’s Cape Town cocktail bucket list!**

fable cocktail bar

fable’s cocktail list is a wonderful journey through history and fantasy alike, with each drink tying the story together. Take the Watcher of the South for example, which is all about earth warrior Umlindi Wemingizimu, represented by Scotch single malt, vanilla, citrus, aromatic bitters, and spiced pumpkin. If the beer-and-brandy-in-the-same-cocktail (Watcher of The South) doesn’t hook you, then perhaps fable’s number-one seller, The Kronendal Lovers (which accounts for half of fable’s cocktail orders), invariably will. As you may expect, all of the fable’s cocktails are inventively and creatively presented, such as the iconic Flying Dutchman in its spray paint can, and illustrations for each feature both in the menu and as murals in the bar, celebrating all fable cocktails and the fable they embody and tell.

Beer, Wine & Bubbly…

fable cocktail bar cape town
fable cocktail bar

For those who aren’t head-over-heels cocktail lovers at heart, fable has you covered with a vast selection of beer, wine, and bubbly options to choose from. However, as with all things fable, you better believe that their wines, beers, and bubbly are never just wines, beers. and bubbly. We’ve had enough of them all to know that, and to discern the difference between the good, the bad, the ugly, and everything in between. fable has personally tested and approved each option on their menu and ensured that there’s something for every palate, occasion, and celebration – from the classics and favourites to a few ‘special occasion’ choices, as well as one or two wildcards just for fun – fable has it all!

When the hunger kicks in…

fable cocktail bar cape town
fable cocktail bar

If at any point the liquor has brought on a hunger or craving for something delicious, there’s a small selection of seriously enticing comfort food, cheekily curated to match your party state-of-mind. Think grilled cheese on brioche with bitters-infused butter; chicken wings sticky with a sake glaze; a vegan burger made with a Beyond Meat patty that’s hard to distinguish from their juicy Cadillac burger. You might just want to put down your drink for a moment as you tuck in; no one will judge if you don’t, though.

Its all about the fable fun…

fable cocktail bar cape town
fable cocktail bar

You don’t only come to fable to drink though, oh no! You come for the vibe – and what a vibe it is indeed! Intentionally sought to provide an alternative to the rather stiff service and staid atmosphere which typically pervades most of South Africa’s great cocktail venues, fable carves a space for a younger, more upbeat crowd to experience ALL the flavours on offer. And so, like Cinderella in that well-known fairytale, when the DJ ramps up the beats later in the evening, the bar’s atmosphere goes into hyperdrive, pulses quickening as punters pivot from cocktails to vodka-Red Bulls and Jagerbombs. A serious buzz ensues.

fable cocktail bar

Its therefore safe to say that people are drawn to fable not only because of their innovative cocktails which continues to push the envelope in terms of flavors and the pizzazz with which they’re created, crafted, and served, but for the entire fable experience – not to mention the spirited night out it holds in store – an exhilarating story waiting to unfold. And, like every great tale, it’s layered, multidimensional, and full of surprises – exactly the way it should be!

A fable special…

**Happy hour special: 2-for-1 on specially selected drinks | 5pm – 7pm on weekdays and 4pm – 7pm on weekends

At 8:30am, riders will depart from the Triumph showroom for Elgin Railway Market. Those wishing to join them from their second rendezvous point can meet them at 09:15am at the Shell Garage on the N2, just before Sir Lowry’s Pass.

You will be traveling through Rooi Els, Kleinmond, the Houw Hoek Pass and then back on the N2 to Elgin Railway Market over the 159km journey.

The Elgin Railway Market features local food and craft vendors, live music and is situated within a historic apple warehouse that has been transformed into a bustling Steampunk, Art Deco market. It was originally built by Italian prisoners of war in the 1940s. The old craftsmen’s skills are evident in the concrete tapered columns and curved box gutters. An extensive renovation has turned it into a showpiece that is well worth visiting.

There is a 72km direct route back to Cape Town from the market, so you can depart the market at your leisure.

#Go swimming at some of the best dams & rivers in Cape Town

Beat The Heat In Cape Town This Summer

Going swimming and adventuring at some of the best dams and rivers in Cape Town is by far one of the most fun, exhilarating, invigorating / ‘make-you-feel-completely-and-utterly-alive’ adventure experiences and things to do this summer in Cape Town for both the young and young at heart.

If you’re eager to take a cool and refreshing dip away from the sand, sea water, and large crowds, Cape Town’s vast variety of dams and rivers are the perfect place to do just that.

Let’s be honest, what’s more thrilling than plunging into a crystal-clear rock pool in one of the most beautiful locations in the Western Cape? This is undoubtedly one of the most exciting ways to beat the heat in Cape Town this summer.

Bring on the GIN! Known as one of Cape Town’s coolest hidden gems, hippest hangouts, and favourite Gin nirvanas, The Gin Bar should be right at the top of your ‘Things to do in Cape Town’ list!

At The Gin Bar, they take their gin seriously – VERY seriously – as they pride themselves on making the entire experience all about the star of the show – THE GIN! Oh, and you of course! So, if you’re a head-over-heels gin-lover at heart, the legendary Gin Bar is without a doubt where you should be at.

**Interesting fact: Did you know that the Gin Bar was one of the first bars in the Mother City to dedicate itself to all things gin? Thereby making it the true OG of the Cape Town gin scene. It is also one of the country’s only true speak-easy bars – how incredible is that?

As the name suggests, all the signature cocktails at The Gin Bar contain Gin, well, besides the virgins of course. The menu is concise and definitely favours quality over quantity, just as it should be. If you’re not much of a gin lover, no problem! They also offer a selection of amazing classic cocktails to choose from.

When it comes to their much-loved signature cocktails, The Gin Bar cleverly named their classic five cocktails The Head, The Heart, The Hope, The Soul, and The Ambition, all intended to provide their drinker with as much needed healing for whatever may ail them. Undoubtedly adding an extra unique and personalised touch to the already bucket-list worthy experience.

Fondly known by Cape Town locals as the ‘secret’ Gin bar, mainly due to its hush-hush, unmarked location hidden behind a cool Chocolate Café, Honest Chocolate, and nestled in a Mediterranean-style secret courtyard – Going to The Gin Bar is one experience you absolutely cannot afford to miss!

The Bubbly Bar

The Gin Bar has added a new exciting addition to their already impressive repertoire – The Bubbly Bar! This little bar is a celebration of local crafters making some of the best bubbly in the world. Our South African version of Champagne is called Cap Classique and is just as good as the French version in our (and many others’) opinion. Some local makers also experiment with unusual grape varietals to produce flavour experiences that you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

The tasting flight of 5 different producers is highly recommended. If you love bubbly then this little bar is for you!
