Doors open at 6pm on Weekdays and 5pm on Saturdays Winelands shows. Come early to reserve the best spot on the lawn in front of the screen and to enjoy some of the delicious food and drinks on sale at our local artisanal food market.

Ticket Sales

If tickets are not sold-out online, tickets can be purchased at the door from R140 for a standard ticket (excluding Special Shows, which have a different price range). Chairs and blankets can be rented on location too, for R20 and R10 respectively and cash only.
All tickets are sold through Webtickets.co.za.
Ticket sales are final, non-refundable, and non-transferable to another night. Tickets can, however, be given to anyone to use and no name change is required.
No persons will be allowed entry without a Webtickets (printed or digital) ticket. No unredeemed gift vouchers or any other unredeemed vouchers will be allowed at the door.
Refunds or exchanges will not be made for inadvertently booking the wrong show. Please check your booking carefully before paying.
Shows with less than 10% ticket sales may be cancelled by the organisers up to 24 hours in advance.
Movies and venues are subject to change.

Rain or Strong Wind

Light drizzle and tolerable wind will not cancel the event, so please come prepared.
If a movie is cancelled the day before or on the day of the event before doors open, we will inform the registered Webtickets account holder via email and SMS. Communication will be sent to the email address and cell phone number used to make the Webtickets booking. You will then have the option of choosing another movie on another date valid for the same season (ends 29 April 2023) or receive a refund. Please note that no exchanges/refunds will be given after 7 days from the cancellation date for any reason whatsoever.
If a movie is cancelled after the doors have opened, you will have the option of choosing another movie on another date valid for the same season (ends 29 April 2023) or receive a refund. The registered Webtickets account holder will receive an email the following working day with instructions in this regard. Please note that no exchanges will be given after 7 days from the cancellation date for any reason whatsoever.
If a movie has played for longer than half its length and we are forced to cancel, no exchanges will be given.

Availability

The Galileo Picnic season runs from October to April every summer.
Tickets for the whole season are available online from September.
Tickets are limited, so book to avoid disappointment.
If a show is sold out, no tickets will be available at the door.

Restrictions

No chairs or backrests are allowed to be brought into any of our venues.
No alcohol of any kind is allowed at any of the shows at Wine Estates, Central Park, Century City and Six Gun Grill Newlands Cricket Stadium. Bags will be checked at the door.
No pets allowed at any of our screenings.
No smoking, including electronic cigarettes/vapes, is allowed anywhere except at the designated smoking area.
It is a criminal offence to remove any Galileo property from the premises, including blankets, backrests, VIP tables, decor, games, or any other equipment. Offenders will be prosecuted.

The Galileo Picnic

Nothing signals the arrival of summer quite like The Galileo Open Air Cinema, Cape Town’s first and finest outdoor movie experience. The recipe is beautifully simple; great movies, a festive atmosphere and a food market of local gourmet goodness served ‘al fresco’ under a canopy of stars.

This season The Galileo will be proudly sponsored by Santam and will kick off on the 31^st of October 2022 with their iconic Halloween screening. The Galileo’s eleventh season of outdoor movie magic will run until the 29^th of April 2023 and will feature rom coms, cult classics, family favourites and ‘Golden Oldies’ – ensuring all tastes are catered to.

This season, Galileo guests will be thrilled to hear that weekly shows will be screened at the beloved ‘Kirstenbosch Garden’, select Fridays hosted at Century City’s ‘Central Park’ and a brand new venue, the iconic ‘Six Gun Grill Newlands Cricket Stadium’ for selected Sundays. Perfectly primed for weekend Winelands adventures, the rotating wine estate venues remain firmly in place for Saturday screenings, showcasing the beautiful backdrops of Stellenbosch, Somerset West, Paarl and Franschhoek.

The Galileo is the ideal setting for an evening with family, friends, work socials, date nights and birthday celebrations. Better yet, this season all are encouraged to come for FREE during their birthday week (excluding special shows). Pensioners are also catered to, with special savings to ensure there’s no reason to stay home this summer.

Couples seeking something extra special can look out for the newly-launched VVIP ticket that ensures the best seats in the house, luxurious décor, a bespoke picnic platter for two, a snack combo and a bottle of wine.

The Easter Egg Hunt is open to kids up to 12 years, and children under 2 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Entry tickets give kids access to the space. Spend R200 or more at any of the stores at Willowbridge Shopping Centre and hand your receipt in at the Activation which is located opposite Pick ‘n Pay. Note that one entry ticket per receipt, not one entry per R200 spent. VIP Parking Card Holders receive complimentary entry tickets.

Kids will love the thrill of scrambling and finding up to ten Easter Eggs of different sizes in just one minute. Beyond the hunting madness, face painting is also available in the jungle space. Do keep in mind that the Easter Eggs are produced in a factory that may have traces of nuts.
