Just an hour’s drive from Cape Town, located in the Cape’s gastronomy capital, Franschhoek, is a boutique vineyard called Moreson Wine Farm. The beautiful wine farm is nestled at the end of the aptly named Happy Valley Road and is run by the Friedman family. This tranquil paradise covers a total area of 35 Ha, 18 Ha of which are vineyards. For more than 25 years now, the Moreson Wine Farm has produced best-tasting wines which are characterized by a soulfulness that transcends the senses. The focus of the wines is placed on Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc.
To ensure the continuous production of award-winning wines, the farm’s viticulture practices are all geared towards the health of the soil and greater terroir. Their new vineyards are all organically cultivated, while the older vineyards are being patiently converted to organic vineyard practices.
Book a wine tasting tour in Moreson and enjoy the exquisitely-made subtle oak-aged wines. Their tasting room, which is what remains of the old farmhouse, has a delightful rustic charm and cottage appeal and is surrounded by vines, citrus trees, and a tranquil stream.
The farm’s exotic plant orchid nursery is filled with all kinds of peculiar and beautiful flora ranging from bright sunburst petals to deep magenta blooms.
The estate’s restaurant, the Bread and Wine Vineyard Restaurant, is an idyllic family-friendly restaurant offering a relaxed, country-chic lunchtime experience. The restaurant is known for its most delectable dishes using only the freshest seasonal ingredients and handcrafted charcuterie that rivals the finest in Europe, all with a uniquely South African twist.
Taste the passion, see the magic and feel the love at the Moreson Wine Farm.
