Kleinmond is a small coastal town situated in the Overberg region of the Western Cape. The town’s name means “small mouth” in Afrikaans. The name comes from its location at the mouth of the Bot River lagoon. This town is a popular holiday destination.
The town boasts with a unspoiled, beautiful beach at the mouth of the Kleinmond lagoon near Hermanus. Behind the beach lies rolling green hills and striking mountains, creating a stunning backdrop. Kleinmond Beach is a Blue flag beach and is a popular site for whale watching during the winter months and a favourite spot for summer holidays. From the months of June to November, the famous Southern Right Whales are often seen swimming close to the beach.
The beach is also the town’s top destination for those who want to enjoy a day in the sun. Popular activities on the beach include swimming, boating, paddling, and other water sports. Lifeguards are on duty from December to March to guarantee the safety of the beach goers. The beach is also immaculately clean and has great facilities.
