Boschendal Wine Farm is located between Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. It is one of the oldest wine estates in South Africa. Boschendal has a rich history, dating back to 1685. Jean le Long was the first owner. He was one of 200 Huguenots who fled religious persecution in France. Over the centuries, the estate had many different owners.

This included the de Villiers family, who lay the farming foundations and built the Manor House. In 2012, a consortium of South African investors bought the estate. Since then, intensive rejuvenation and agricultural programs were undertaken to restore and develop the estate.

The estate greets you in style with dramatic mountain landscapes, deep ravines, imposing peaks, and hundreds of hectares of lush gardens and vines. Consistent with their vision to maintain the strong tradition whilst utilizing modern innovation, the Boschendal cellar masters meticulously balance rustic tradition and modern innovation to produce classic, fruity wines while upholding the ecological integrity. This practice makes Boschendal a premier wine-growing region in the country. The cellar and vineyard tours should be on your Boschendal to-do list. The winery’s small tasting room sits between the gift shop and bakery. There is also the larger Cellar Door Tasting Centre in the historic Cape Dutch style Manor House which dates back to 1812.

With fresh produce, farm-to-table cuisine, award-winning wines, and tranquil ambiance, Boschendal has become South Africa’s premier wine and food destination. Visit and discover what the Boschendal Wine Farm has to offer.
