The Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival creates opportunities for young musicians to further music studies while showcasing international and national participants with South African artists and chamber music experts.
Participants that attended the festival include representative student groups from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) Manchester (UK), Graz (Austria), University of Music & Theatre (Zürich) and University of California, Los Angeles (USA).
The event features conductors Pedro Carneiro and Bjorn Bantock with the top international and national institutions are invited to send representative student groups to attend the festival. Masterclasses, rehearsals, coaching and conversations combined with community development and partnership programmes create interaction between various musicians. The festival spans over eleven days hosting numerous performances with The Stellenbosch University Percussion Ensemble and the Royal Academy of Music Viola Class (UK).
The opening day of the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival launches with the welcome function and the faculty concert. The masterclasses includes artists such as Marco Silva (Trumpet), Pedro Carneiro (Percussion), Gareth Lubbe (Viola) and Marc Bouchkov (Violin). The artists also featuring are Nina Shumann (Piano), Alexander Buzzlov (Cello), Weston Sprott (Trombone) and more.
